In 1929 the pioneers of our area realized the need for a house of Worship and so began the congregation that is now identified as Little Church of the Desert.
~
Little Church was the first established church in the Morongo Basin. It was formally organized in 1935 as a community church to serve the religious needs of Twentynine Palms. The sanctuary was built in 1940 at a total cost of $5,670. The funds for the building were received from many faithful individuals and philanthropic sources, both local and across the United States. Many of the interior furnishings were donated from Southern California churches. Beautiful stained glass windows throughout the historic building were donated by families in the community, and the bell that hangs in the steeple to this day was donated by Beaumont Presbyterian Church.
